Yesterday - after a long time ago - I travelled by train again. Because of the following story, I decided to start a little sporadic column called "funny moments":
Usually the ticket collector ("Zugbegleiter") makes an annoncement like this: "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome on the train from x to y. We hope you enjoy the ride.... (and so on)".
Yesterday it was like this: "Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is ... and I am the main locomotive driver welcoming you on the train from Ingolstadt to Munich. Due to job cuts this train is running without any ticket collector today. We hope you enjoy the ride."

I think this is a one moment-joke. This might be only by the German train(222.deutsche-bahn.de). ;-))
So is the live there isn't enough money for personal in the train.
But take it easy, you had the chance to be amused during your journey.
